I’ll let you in on a secret — I think there’s a PERFECT fitting wedding photographer out there for each + every couple. Right now, you’re trying to find your perfect fitting photographer!

Before we get into the details, I’m going to dish my biggest and most important tip:

Choose a wedding photographer who makes you feel comfortable, heard, and taken care of OVER a photographer whose work + portfolio is stellar.

They should fit BOTH these criteria, but the first part is the most important!

The reason for this is building that trust and an amazing foundation is what actually produces lovely photos on your wedding day! Without that, you won’t feel as engaged and comfortable, so let’s make sure your photos instead reflect that feeling of trust and comfortability. THAT’S where the magic happens, and I’ve written about this topic before because it’s a big one.

Now, how do you get there? Let’s just say you won’t get these tips on a list of ‘Questions to Ask Your Photographer’ that you find online. These are questions I’ve specially developed to help you find the PERFECT fit for YOU!

Let’s dive into the
3 Big Questions to Ask:

  1. Can you describe to me your process/working style, and what it looks like for us to work together? By asking this, you’re asking what their plan is, how they communicate with their couples, and how they’ll actually be interacting with you and getting to know you on a personal level before the wedding day. (again, all of this helps build up that awesome trust and comfortability well before the wedding!)

  2. We are (fill in the blank – introverts, extroverts, etc. personality descriptions), what types of people do you personally work well with? Letting your photographer know up front what type of personalities you have is not common practice, but works WONDERS when it comes to actually finding the right fit! Then you can follow that up with asking if they have a specialty in working with certain personality types. Photographers most often work with all types of personalities as you can imagine, but those who specialize and have a specific photography niche often work with similar personalities over and over again, so they might have a tailored experience that could be a perfect fit + customized to you!

  3. What are some of your interests + passions? This might sound like small talk, but I promise that hearing what lights them up can lead to some great discovery. Most often, you’ll be attracted to someone with at least a few commonalities – common interests help us as humans find connection and build trust. Again, this will help you feel super comfortable, get to know them a tiny bit on a human level, and you can talk about what you share in common!
