No matter what, I always feel like I get to know couples better just by being present on their wedding day, and Sara & Shane are no exception! These two, as you might remember from their engagement session, met at work, but what I didn’t know was that on their second date…Sara told Shane that she loved him. And you want to know what? He felt the exact same love for her. Seriously, I cannot imagine two kinder souls meant for each other!! They are generous, sweet, always making each other at ease, and are a genuine perfect match. How radiantly beautiful and happy did Sara look on her wedding day?! There are no words, my friends! :)
Though there was some rain (okay, so actually quite a big storm) but you never would have known it by the way these two carried on with the day, adjusted to the weather and shifted their intimate ceremony indoors in the historic Horticultural Hall. I was absolutely stunned by the beautiful traditional Thai water ceremony they had at the end of their vows, and in Thai culture its the most important portion of the ceremony. During the water ceremony, relatives and friends are invited to bless the couple and use ornate vessels to pour water over the newlyweds’ hands. According to tradition, this is the moment when the couple is officially married, symbolized with a string draped from the bride’s head to the groom’s head. It was a true joy to witness this ceremony and the outpouring of love from their families! :) Then it was on to cocktail hour and an amazing dinner served by Gooseberries, and lots of dancing to celebrate the newlyweds!
Congratulations Shane and Sara, you both are so wonderful, fun, and beautiful inside and out!!! I was absolutely honored to be present as you begin your married life, and I wish you two oodles of love and years of happy marriage! Also a huge thank you to my friend Chrissy for documenting Sara & Shane’s wedding day alongside me!
