Rachel + Bryan were one of the most down-to-earth, calm and collected couples that I have had the pleasure of working with, ever. Not only did Rachel offer/ask to get dressed outdoors (the lighting was wonderful, and her parents have a very private, fenced-in back yard), but when storms were on the radar she barely batted an eye. We quickly devised a rain option, but did not even end up having to use it, which was even better! Though it was very misty, Bryan, Rachel, and their whole wedding party we cheerful and cooperative, as we made our way to a park on Lake Michigan to take their photos.

My favorite part of the entire day, though I might be biased as a photographer, was Rachel + Bryan’s first look. I absolutely loved the private moment they shared so that Bryan got a chance to see how stunning Rachel looked in her dress and heirloom jewelry. It nearly brought tears to my eyes how sweetly they embraced and gently spoke to each other before the bridal party whisked them down the path to the lake. That moment is one I’m sure they will never forget, and neither will I!

The mist and clouds lifted and they were able to hold their ceremony outdoors just as they had planned. The ceremony space was decorated with flowering plants grown by Rachel’s mom (a VERY talented gardener) and family and friends traveled from several states away to witness them exchange their vows. Since they had met at UW Madison in their very first year of college, Rachel + Bryan have been die-hard Badger fans and still attend and watch UW sports. As a HUGE surprise, Rachel’s maid of honor, her twin sister, hired the one and only UW Madison Badger band to kick off the dancing – Rachel + Bryan’s faces were priceless. Thank you both so much for the honor of coming along on your wedding day, and for entrusting me with the job of documenting such a special day. Much love and happiness to you both!
